Softball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

Foothill dropped down to 4-2 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fairfield Falcons by a score of 5-3. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Fairfield, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Fairfield's part, Karli Robinson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave Robinson a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Robinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bethany Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Aubrianna Beacham, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
