The Brashear Tigers lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a rough 61-39 defeat at the hands of Green City. While losing is never fun, Brashear can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Green City is ranked 116th).
Green City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaryn Hatcher, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hatcher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Jeffries, who scored 14 points.
Brashear has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Green City, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brashear will take on Scotland County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Scotland County and three for Brashear. As for Green City, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Putnam County at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Putnam County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
