The Franklin Central Flashes won the last time they faced the Roncalli Royals, and things went their way on Saturday too. Franklin Central rang in the new year with a 53-40 win over Roncalli. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Franklin Central.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Moriarty, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of EJ Hazelett, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Roncalli saw an underclassman step up: Joe Taylor scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Noah Schmaltz was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Roncalli, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Franklin Central will be playing at home against Southport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southport is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Roncalli, they will head out on the road to face off against Speedway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Speedway will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Roncalli is ranked 112th).
