Softball Recap: Westminster Has No Trouble Against Century

Westminster won against Liberty on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Owls blew past the Century Knights 14-8. With that win, the Owls brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Lila Moxley was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Ward, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Westminster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Westminster has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Century, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coincidentally, Westminster and Century will both be playing Winters Mill the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Owls will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
