The York Institute Dragons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Wartburg Central, posting a 40-7 win on the road. The result was nothing new for York Institute, who have now won five matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Myles Leffew looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 37 yards and a touchdown. Braiden Christianson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
York Institute's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. As for Wartburg Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York Institute will take on Polk County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Polk County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while York Institute is ranked 73rd). As for Wartburg Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tellico Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tellico Plains has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th.
