After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marist, Southwest DeKalb was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 31-14 win over the Lithonia Bulldogs. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Defeat or not, Lithonia got some senior leadership from Xavier Butler and Albert Gooding. Butler gained 82 total yards and two touchdowns, while Gooding rushed for 118 yards. Gooding's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards.

Southwest DeKalb's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lithonia, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, Southwest DeKalb will host Tucker at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 38.8 points per game this season. As for Lithonia, they will venture away from home to face off against North Springs at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. The Bulldogs will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
