Lakewood is 0-10 against the Knights since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lakewood Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crestwood Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lakewood sitting on three straight wins and the Knights on six.
Last Tuesday, Lakewood got the win against the Bulldogs by a conclusive 52-28. Given Lakewood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakewood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zakiya Hodge, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Nesmith, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Crestwood on the road against the Bulldogs on Wednesday as the squad secured a 61-33 win. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Crestwood had established a 24 point advantage.
Crestwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saniya Williams, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Williams hasn't dropped below 19 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Javiah Martin, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Lakewood's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Crestwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Lakewood came up short against the Knights in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 49-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
