The Franklinville Panthers's and the Ellicottville Eagles's match on Thursday was close at halftime, but the Franklinville Panthers turned on the heat in the second half with 47 points. Franklinville was the clear victor by a 64-43 margin over Ellicottville. The win was just what Franklinville needed coming off of a 70-50 defeat in their prior matchup.
Carter Smith and Owen Chudy certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Chudy scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Chudy is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Franklinville's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ellicottville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinville will take on Forestville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Forestville Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Ellicottville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cattaraugus-Little Valley at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Cattaraugus-Little Valley is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
