Lorena is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Franklin is on a 15-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Lorena Leopards will take on the Franklin Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lorena had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Columbus on Friday as Lorena made off with a 42-21 win. Lorena's victory was all the more impressive since Columbus was averaging only 13.62 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Braylon Henry, who rushed for 221 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Henry's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Kaden Roberts was another key contributor, rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Franklin has more to be thankful for after their matchup against Little River Academy on Friday. Franklin blew past Little River Academy 52-27. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Franklin had established a 24 point advantage.
Their wins bumped Lorena to 11-2 and Columbus to 12-1.
Lorena came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin when the teams last played back in October, sneaking past 52-49. Does Lorena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Franklin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
