The Wallkill Panthers won the last time they faced the Marlboro Central Dukes, and things went their way on Thursday too. Wallkill rang in the new year with a 62-51 win over Marlboro Central.
Zoe Mesuch was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Wallkill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Dembinsky, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Wallkill now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Marlboro Central, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.
Wallkill will play host again and welcome Warwick, where tip off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Warwick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Wallkill is ranked 69th). Marlboro Central is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Monroe-Woodbury at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th.
