The Troy Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Miami East at home and fell 44-17. Troy has not had much luck with Miami East recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Jadyn Almeida and Allana Bolden certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Almeida scored five points, while Bolden scored no points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Troy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mckayah Musselman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Miami East, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Maryn Gross, who scored six points along with three steals.
Troy's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Miami East, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will challenge Fairborn at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Fairborn comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Miami East is on the road again on Saturday and play against Bethel at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th. Bethel comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
