AAA Region 1 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Johnson took down Beach 26-2 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shyheim Roberts threw for 150 yards and one touchdown and ran for 55 yards in the win.
The Atomsmashers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,043 from 8,813. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 26-2 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
Johnson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darrell Myers helped Johnson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 35 yards.
Korey Clarke was the best wideout in AAA Region 1 this week as the Atomsmashers defeated Beach. Clarke tallied five receptions for 68 yards.
Savannah's Jovante Spivey and Jermaine Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Spivey has thrown for 851 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 11 catches for 322 yards. Corbin Mitchell from Johnson leads the league in rushing with 731 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Southeast Bulloch takes on Appling County. The Yellowjackets are currently in fourth, while the Pirates are in second.
Tattnall County led AAA Region 1 in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on Southeast Bulloch.
