Clear Spring is 1-9 against the Leopards since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Clear Spring Blazers will face off against the Smithsburg Leopards at TBD. Clear Spring will be strutting in after a win while the Leopards will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Clear Spring beat the Railroaders 37-32. The victory was just what Clear Spring needed coming off of a 55-23 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Smithsburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 68-59 to Middletown. Smithsburg has struggled against the Knights recently, as their contest on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Smithsburg had strong showings from Skyla Mastronardi, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds, and Maren McFarland, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and four steals. Mastronardi is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Weaver, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Clear Spring's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-11. As for Smithsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Clear Spring took a serious blow against the Leopards in their previous matchup back in January, falling 69-38. Can Clear Spring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
