The Poquoson Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arcadia. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Poquoson of the 59-57 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the defeat, Poquoson had strong showings from Dayne Galacgac, who scored 20 points, and Khaleo Smith, who scored 15 points. Jayson Kell was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
It was another big night for Ryheim Pettit, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds for Arcadia. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cropper, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Poquoson's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Arcadia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Poquoson will be playing in front of their home fans against Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Bruton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. As for Arcadia, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northampton at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Averaging 67.63 points so far this season, Arcadia's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Northampton better be ready for a challenge.
