The biggest upset of the week belonged to Monte Vista, who took down 34th ranked California, 44-26. Nikita Zamora threw for 312 yards and one touchdown and ran for 20 yards in the win.
San Ramon Valley moved up to 152 from 184 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in East Bay. The Wolves were able to make the jump by beating Granada 22-7.
Marco Zamora was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs bested the Grizzlies. Zamora tallied 14 receptions for 205 yards. Jalen Avery helped Monte Vista's passing attack out by catching four balls for 59 yards.
Cameron Birse threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns. He was 17-27 with zero interceptions.
Zack Chang was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 31 carries, he ran for 171 yards as Monte Vista defeated California. Teammate Mason Melin added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Birse of San Ramon Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1356. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Craig Bergman's team's Chang has rushed for 714 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Zamora. The Monte Vista star has 27 catches for 429 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mark Kessler's team takes on Eric Billeci's team. As it stands, the Wolves are in third, while the Grizzlies are in second.
The Mustangs took down California 44-26 last week, the largest margin of any game. Zamora in the win.
