Erskine Academy and Gardiner are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Erskine Academy is looking for their season's first win.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Erskine Academy's offense. They lost 7-0 to Nokomis on Wednesday.
Erskine Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Ulmer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Ben Severy also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Gardiner got themselves on the board against Oak Hill on Thursday, but Oak Hill never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Raiders. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Greyson Greenleaf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Dillon Farnham was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Burgess was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Gardiner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only managed one hit.
Gardiner pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Erskine Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
