Jefferson West and Sabetha are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson West will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Jefferson West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Valley Falls 18-1 on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Harriet Dean made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Josie Old looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jefferson West got a massive performance out of Ryleigh Zitek, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Zitek has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Moser, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sabetha waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Red Hawks.
The team relied heavily on Sophia Haverkamp, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kiera Keim was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Sabetha's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson West, their record now sits at 13-1.
Sabetha's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jefferson West has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Sabetha, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Jefferson West's sizable advantage in that area, the Bluejays will need to find a way to close that gap.
Jefferson West might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Sabetha in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
