It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Christian Heritage Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over Mt. Zion. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Christian Heritage.
Carter Triplett looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 277 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 127 yards. Charlie Idom also helped out with an impressive 104 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sherrod Montgomery jr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Christian Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Mt. Zion, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Heritage will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Macon County at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. As for Mt. Zion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bowdon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bowdon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 339 points over their last seven contests.
