The Edison Vikings are on the road again on Saturday to play the Kimball Jaguars at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Edison came up short against St. Mary's and fell 35-23. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Rams are ranked 41st).
Edison's defeat came about despite a quality game from Amarion Mckenzie, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Zo Ward, who gained 72 total yards and a touchdown.
Edison wouldn't let St. Mary's keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Darius McClendon, Elijah Wilkerson, and Joshua Baker picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Kimball blew past Lodi, posting a 35-7 win at home. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 28 points or more this season.
Jermaine Nance continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 221 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Sandoval, who threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Kimball was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lodi only rushed for 88.
Edison's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Kimball, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
