Xavier is 1-6 against Shelton since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Xavier Falcons will be playing at home against the Shelton Gaels at 7:00 p.m. Xavier will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, Xavier came up short against Fairfield Prep and fell 30-17. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Xavier in their matchups with Fairfield Prep: they've now lost three in a row.
Shelton aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Friday extended their overall winning streak to four. They took down Hamden 42-28. Given Shelton's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Hamden is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shelton had a senior duo take command as David Dojlidko gained 233 total yards and three touchdowns and Michael Kinik threw for 241 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes. Dojlidko was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards.
Xavier's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Shelton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Xavier might still be hurting after the 33-13 defeat they got from Shelton in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Xavier, Ayden Sepkaski (who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
