The St. Edward Beavers lost against the Riverside Chargers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. St. Edward had to suffer through a rough 65-22 loss at the hands of the Chargers. St. Edward was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.
St. Edward lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marcos Paez, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anthony Reader, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Riverside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicholas Berger, who scored 19 points. Berger is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Glesinger, who scored 16 points.
St. Edward has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Riverside, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Edward will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Riverside, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nebraska Christian has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
