Basketball Recap: Freedom Christian Academy Skates Past Oak City Prep with Ease

Freedom Christian Academy entered their tilt with Oak City Prep on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Oak City Prep Bears 109-45. The matchup marked the Patriots' most dominant win of the season so far.

Freedom Christian Academy was led to victory by Karsten Swinney and Bryce West. Swinney almost dropped a double-double on 37 points and nine assists, while West posted 31 points along with six assists and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Swinney has scored at least a third of Freedom Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haidyn Bell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Freedom Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amazin Dixon, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The contest was Dixon's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyeon Wilson, who put up eight points along with seven boards and three steals.

The victory got Freedom Christian Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Oak City Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Freedom Christian Academy will take on Harrells Christian Academy in a tournament on December 27th. Freedom Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Oak City Prep, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wayne Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
