3A Region III District 24 recap Oct. 3, 2012
La Marque moved up to 109 from 176 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region III District 24. The Cougars were able to make the jump by beating St. Pius X 35-14.
Stafford was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Spartans triumphed over KIPP Academy 41-7.
Columbia's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. DARIUS BELL threw for five yards and JERRY WAYNE COTTEN had five yards receiving. On the ground FLOYD BESS chipped in 110 yards.
Columbia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Roughnecks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. WILLIS JOHNSON has thrown for 156 yards and one touchdown this season, while JARIUS KESEE has six catches for 83 yards. BESS leads the league in rushing with 647 yards.
Stafford took down KIPP Academy 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
