The Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They secured a 44-38 W over Heartland. Winning is a bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, as Exeter-Milligan/Friend did.
Exeter-Milligan/Friend was led to victory by Savana Krupicka and Malorie Staskal. Krupicka scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Staskal scored nine points along with 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kiley Oldehoeft, who scored four points along with three steals.
Heartland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Hiebner, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Hayden Mierau was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win got Exeter-Milligan/Friend back to even at 8-8. As for Heartland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Exeter-Milligan/Friend won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pawnee City at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Pawnee City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Tuesday. As for Heartland, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Fillmore Central at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fillmore Central is ranked 213th, while Heartland is ranked 237th).
