Softball Recap: Dowagiac Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

While Dowagiac put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Benton Harbor. The Chieftains blew past the Tigers 18-0. Considering the Chieftains have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dowagiac got a massive performance out of Olivia McIntosh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI McIntosh has posted over her last 17 matches. Marlie Carpenter was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Dowagiac was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .765. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Dowagiac pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Benton Harbor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, Dowagiac and Benton Harbor will both be playing Brandywine the next time they take the field. The Chieftains will host the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on May 12.
