The South Panola Tigers and the Grenada Chargers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the South Panola Tigers had to settle for second. They took a 33-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. South Panola's loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
South Panola's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mykel Allen, who rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. Allen really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Michael Johnson was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
South Panola's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Grenada, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
South Panola does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grenada will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (West Jones: 5.8, Grenada: 13) so any points scored will be well earned.
