West Broward is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Cypress Bay is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. West Broward will host Cypress Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Broward's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cypress Bay's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
West Broward is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Hewitt-Trussville on Thursday. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 3-2.
Noel Perez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, West Broward saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reggie Rodr?guez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ethan Lindor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Cypress Bay beat Coral Reef 10-5 on Wednesday.
Logan Jorcin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Santiago Sanchez was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. David Granger was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Cypress Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Cypress Bay is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. West Broward's loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Everything went West Broward's way against Cypress Bay when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as West Broward made off with an 8-1 victory. Will West Broward repeat their success, or does Cypress Bay has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
