The Forrest City Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Nettleton, falling 62-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Forrest City in their matchups with Nettleton: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Roshawd Washington, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kyman Lee, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Nettleton to victory were Xavier Harrell and Tj Brown. Harrell rushed for 209 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry, while Brown gained 251 total yards and five touchdowns. Harrell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Forrest City's defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Southside and 6-2 Robinson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.6% over those games). As for Nettleton, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forrest City will take on Wynne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nettleton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valley View's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six games.
