Village Christian Academy came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Sean Nicely made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Eli Guinn was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Village Christian Academy: the team is 10-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nathan Brooks, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Village Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne Preparatory Academy only posted a batting average of .222.

Village Christian Academy pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Village Christian Academy will take on East Bladen in a tournament on Friday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Eastern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
