Baseball Game Preview: South River Seahawks vs. Meade Mustangs

South River is a perfect 10-0 against Meade since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Seahawks will face off against the Mustangs. South River will be strutting in after a victory while Meade will be coming in after a defeat.

South River headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Northeast let them put that streak behind them. The Seahawks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-3 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Seahawks as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

South River got a massive performance out of Parker Box, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Box a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rotondo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

South River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Meade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 28-1 to Northeast. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Meade's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for South River, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.

Meade's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. It's a different story for Meade, though, as they've only averaged .181. Will they be able to contain South River's hitters?

South River got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Meade by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
