Alpharetta is 2-8 against Pope since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Alpharetta Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Pope Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Alpharetta came up short against Lassiter and fell 63-50. While losing is never fun, Alpharetta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Lassiter is ranked 42nd).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Pope's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 54-46 to Sprayberry.
This is the second loss in a row for Alpharetta and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Pope, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Alpharetta came up short against Pope when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 61-50. Can Alpharetta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
