Basketball Game Preview: Citrus Hill Hawks vs. West Valley Mustangs

Citrus Hill hasn't had much luck against West Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 5:15 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

West Valley is hoping to do what Patriot couldn't on Monday: put an end to Citrus Hill's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Citrus Hill took down Patriot 73-55. While the Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Citrus Hill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jerren White out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. White has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kannon Steward, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

While West Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 66-45 victory on Monday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Citrus Hill is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for West Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Citrus Hill came up short against West Valley when the teams last played back in January, falling 61-49. Can Citrus Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
