The El Dorado Aztecs will head out on the road to face off against the Pebble Hills Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for El Dorado and four for Pebble Hills.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but El Dorado had to settle for a 43-41 defeat against Eastlake. While losing is never fun, El Dorado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1007th, while Eastlake is ranked 429th).
The losing side was boosted by Cristian Velasquez, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Hudson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pebble Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-41 to Eastwood.
El Dorado's loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-22. As for Pebble Hills, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season.
El Dorado came up short against Pebble Hills when the teams last played back in January, falling 56-49. Can El Dorado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
