On Thursday, The Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons faced the Master's Academy Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind was beaten by Master's Academy 46-16. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Florida School for the Deaf & Blind lost, one person who can't be blamed is Roud Valcin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 202 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Valcin really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Ajani Zahira was another key contributor, rushing for 123 yards.
Master's Academy had a senior duo take command as Caleb Cotton threw for 277 yards and five touchdowns and Christian Marques picked up 142 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Florida School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Master's Academy, their victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind will take on City of Life Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. City of Life Christian Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Master's Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sarasota Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
