The Norris Titans will head out on the road to take on the Elkhorn Antlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Norris' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Norris is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Waverly, who was ranked third at the time (Norris was ranked eighth). The Titans fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 45-42 on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this game were averaging 12.13 points allowed.
Despite their defeat, Norris saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kyson Gana, who picked up 224 receiving yards and four TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Gana's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Evan Greenfield, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt.
Norris didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aaron Godtel.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of Blair. The contest was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Antlers couldn't quite close it out.
Like Norris, Elkhorn lost despite seeing results from several players. Reid Stec led the charge by rushing for 51 yards and one score. The Antlers also got a significant boost from Wyatt Worlie, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Norris fell to 7-1. As for Elkhorn, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything went Norris' way against Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Norris made off with a 42-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
