Boulder City has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Moapa Valley Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Boulder City got themselves on the board against Mater Academy East Las Vegas, but Mater Academy East Las Vegas never followed suit. They breezed by the Knights at home to the tune of 48-0. The result was nothing new for Boulder City, who have now won three contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Gage Hopkinson and Chase Jappe were among the main playmakers for Boulder City as the former rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter gained 176 total yards and four touchdowns. Easton Welbourne also helped out with an impressive 109 receiving yards.
Boulder City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Charles Stewart and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Moapa Valley entered their tilt with Virgin Valley with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Moapa Valley walked away with a 38-27 win over Virgin Valley two weeks ago.
Shandon Matheson had a dynamite game for Moapa Valley, rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Matheson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Degan Jones, who picked up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Boulder City to 7-2 and Moapa Valley to 8-2.
Boulder City took a serious blow against Moapa Valley when the teams last played back in September, falling 42-9. Can Boulder City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
