Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jamal Carnley and Baron Hall Lead Poplar Springs to Victory

Poplar Springs won the last time they faced Vernon and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Poplar Springs Atomics managed a 64-58 win over the Vernon Yellowjackets. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Atomics.

Poplar Springs was led to victory by Baron Hall and Jamal Carnley. Hall went 10 for 13 en route to 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Carnley dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists. The dominant performance gave Carnley a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hall, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and five boards.

Poplar Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Vernon, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Poplar Springs and Vernon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Poplar Springs (ranked 695th) will meet Malone (ranked 337th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poplar Springs is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, Vernon will take on Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 452 places (770 vs. 318).
