Softball Recap: Bastrop's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Bastrop came tearing into Wednesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Navarro Vikings 19-1. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 18 runs.

Ella Griesenbeck was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Bryleigh Fawcett was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lanie Coy, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Bastrop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in ten consecutive contests.

Bastrop's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Navarro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Bastrop wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin on the 4th. As for Navarro, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-11 win against Cedar Creek on the 4th.
