The Eastern Wayne Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-54 walloping at the hands of Goldsboro. While losing is never fun, Eastern Wayne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Goldsboro is ranked 77th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Thomas, who scored 14 points. Bobby Tann was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Goldsboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andre Williams led the charge by scoring nine points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jae'Quan Green, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Eastern Wayne's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Goldsboro, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Eastern Wayne will head out on the road to challenge Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Wayne is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. As for Goldsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 353 points over their last five contests.
