There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to South View's senior Donovan Brewington, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Southern Nash's 35 - 21 win over Rocky Mount last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Zonovan "bam" Knight. "bam" Knight ran for 285 yards and also punched in one touchdown. That performance landed "bam" Knight among the top power-ranked players for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Northern not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent East Chapel Hill in every quarter. Northern put the hurt on East Chapel Hill with a conclusive 76 - 7 victory. At 69 points, that marked Northern's largest margin of victory so far this year. The combined 83 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
Movin on Up
Trinity Christian was the big favorite in its game against Village Christian Academy last week, and for good reason. Everything went Trinity Christian's way against Village Christian Academy as it secured a 56 - 15 win. One major factor in the victory was the play of senior Trevon Jones, who earned two touchdowns and 192 yards rushing the ball. The success catapulted Trinity Christian ten spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Heritage (14th in the power rankings) and Wake Forest (1st). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Of course, Heritage and Wake Forest can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
