EVANS, Ga. -
Houston County (Warner Robins, Ga.) took an early lead against
Evans (Ga.) and held on for a 20-9 victory on Saturday.
The Bears put up 20 points in the opening quarter. Houston County scored on a touchdown pass by
Jake Fromm, a Fromm touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Kenny Gant.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Fromm in the first quarter, HC led 20-7 at the half.
Evans' lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter.
Coming into the game the Warner Robins school had allowed 26.6 points per game this year. A defensively strong the Bears kept the Knights well below the 21.9 points it had been averaging per game.
A 45-14 Houston County victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Evans defeated Grovetown 37-17 last week.
Evans (4-4) will play a AAAAA Region 2 game against Lakeside next week, while Houston County (5-3) will take on Jones County also in a AAAAA Region 2 game.
