The Sandusky Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Kingston Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sandusky is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Sandusky took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Croswell-Lexington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since April 26th.
Peyton Bowerman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bowerman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sandusky got a massive performance out of Tyler Bush, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Bush has posted over his last 14 contests. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Tovar, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Kingston came out on top against Deckerville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Cardinals narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 6-5.
The team relied heavily on Nick Cummings, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bronson Skinner, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Kingston hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Sandusky pushed their record up to 17-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Kingston, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10-1 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sandusky has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kingston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sandusky was able to grind out a solid victory over Kingston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
