The Hooper Bay Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 107-36 win over Alakanuk. Hooper Bay has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Hooper Bay had a senior duo take command as Latrell Lake scored 32 points and Carson Long scored 31 points. Long has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Bell, who scored 12 points.
The victory (which was Hooper Bay's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.3 points per game. As for Alakanuk, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Hooper Bay won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Comets at 9:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Chevak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Warriors are ranked fifth). Alakanuk does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
