Douglas County has gone 7-2 against Castle View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Sabercats at 12:00 p.m. Douglas County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Douglas County barely beat Highlands Ranch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-1 victory on Wednesday. The Huskies have beaten the Falcons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.
Tyler Nunn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Nunn was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bricen Moore, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Max VanDeWalker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Douglas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands Ranch only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Castle View, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand ThunderRidge a 5-0 shutout on Monday.
Not much got past Jack Carmichael, who gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep ThunderRidge off the board. Carmichael has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tyler Feldhake was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Tyler Hart was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Douglas County's record is now 8-5. As for Castle View, their record now sits at 5-9.
Castle View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Douglas County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Castle View, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Douglas County's sizable advantage in that area, the Sabercats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Douglas County skirted past Castle View 13-12 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
