The Elysian Fields Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-24 defeat at the hands of West Rusk. Elysian Fields was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-12.
Aniya Patterson was Elysian Fields' leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Yzabella Brown held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
West Rusk's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keke Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 steals. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Pryor, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 steals.
Elysian Fields has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 16 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-25 record this season. As for West Rusk, their victory bumped their record up to 8-18.
Elysian Fields and Jefferson will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jefferson will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. West Rusk will take on Arp at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Arp has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
