The Phillipsburg Panthers won the last time they faced the Trego Golden Eagles, and things went their way on Thursday too. Phillipsburg came out on top against Trego by a score of 49-42. Given Phillipsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Trego is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rad Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trey Carlson, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Phillipsburg and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Trego, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phillipsburg will challenge Thomas More Prep-Marian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thomas More Prep-Marian will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Phillipsburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Trego, they will head out on the road to challenge Russell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
