The Lakeland Preparatory Lions will face off against the Trezevant Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Lakeland Preparatory sitting on 13 straight wins and Trezevant on eight.
If Lakeland Preparatory beats Trezevant with 15 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Lions put the hurt on Ripley with a sharp 15-1 victory last Wednesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by ten runs or more this season.
Olivier Grandchamp looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Ryan Pitts was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Noah Lindsey was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Lakeland Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ripley only posted an OBP of .429.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Trezevant sidestepped KIPP Collegiate for an 11-9 win.
The team relied heavily on Zavion Evans, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Goodwill, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Lakeland Preparatory's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Trezevant, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeland Preparatory has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .511. However, it's not like Trezevant struggles in that department as they've averaged .682. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lakeland Preparatory's way against Trezevant when the teams last played back in April, as Lakeland Preparatory made off with a 28-5 win. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
