St. Anne dropped their record down to 13-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 12-3 to the Milford Bearcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.
As for Milford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.
For Milford's part, Beau Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Wright is becoming a predictor of Milford's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 14-15 when he doesn't). Wright was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 contests.
In other batting news, Milford let Aiden Frerichs and Hixon Lafond run wild. Frerichs went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Lafond went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lafond has become a key player for Milford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 12-15 otherwise. Aiden Bell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As of now, neither St. Anne nor Milford have any future games scheduled.
