Smith Center won the last time they faced Ellis and Lillie Heiland did her part to make sure it happened again. The Redmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Railroaders on Tuesday for which the team can thank Heiland, who had 14 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Despite the loss, Ellis still got an impressive performance from Taylor Kohl, who had 20 assists and three digs.

Smith Center has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Ellis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Smith Center has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Plainville on the 30th. As for Ellis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Hoxie on the 30th.
