Zereian Quarles Delivers Best Effort of Season
Zereian Quarles produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Pebble Hills to the win on Friday. Quarles rushed for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 63 yards.
Coronado had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Quarles it was a similar story. When Quarles last faced the Thunderbirds back in September of 2023, he rushed for 174 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Steven Galindo Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Steven Galindo produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Eastlake to the win on Thursday. Galindo rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 30 receiving yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. Eastlake is 2-1 when Galindo posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Galindo might have his next game, a home matchup with Socorro, circled on his calendar. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Galindo saw the Bulldogs), he rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards.

Damian Briano Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, Montwood got the W thanks in part to Damian Briano playing the best football he has all season. Briano threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
The win snapped Montwood's winning streak at six games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record. Briano and Montwood will square off against Pebble Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ernie Powers continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his third-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 138 rushing yards. He rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
On the season, Powers has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 160.7 rushing yards per game.

Dorian Jaramillo Goes Supernova in Pebble Hills Victory
Another Pebble Hills player making an appearance on this list is Dorian Jaramillo. He forced a fumble and made 14 total tackles.
If history really does repeat itself, Jaramillo might just drop another big game when he faces off against Montwood on Friday. When Jaramillo last faced the Rams back in October of 2023, he made 17 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
